ARBITRATION RULES (2000 Edition)

FOR USE IN ENGLAND WALES AND NORTHERN IRELAND

Where any agreement, submission or reference provides for arbitration under the Rules of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (the Institute), the parties shall be taken to have agreed that the arbitration shall be conducted in accordance with these Rules or any modified, amended or substituted Rules which the Institute may have adopted and which have come into effect before the commencement of that arbitration.

Article 1 Introductory

1.1 These Rules are intended to govern arbitrations under the Arbitration Act 1996 (the Act) and incorporate all the provisions of the Act (whether mandatory or non-mandatory) unless any such provision is non-mandatory and is expressly excluded or modified by these Rules or by the agreement of the parties.
